Antique 18ct Gold Opal & Diamond Navette Ring

Crafted in rich 18ct Yellow Gold, the design centres around a luminous oval opal, framed within an elegant elongated navette setting and accented with antique-cut diamonds.

The opal is undoubtedly the star of the piece, displaying a wonderful play of colour that shifts as the ring moves. Soft flashes of green, blue, pink and warmer fiery tones appear across the stone, beautifully complemented by the warmth of the Yellow Gold.

Set above and below the opal are clusters of small antique diamonds, arranged within the pointed ends of the navette. Their wonderfully irregular cuts give a softer, more characterful sparkle than their modern counterparts and are perfectly suited to the age and style of the ring. This combination of a central opal with rose-cut or old-cut diamonds was seen in late Victorian and Edwardian navette rings.

The detail continues into the shoulders, which split as they meet the central setting and feature beautiful scrolling, almost leaf-like goldwork.

Inside the band the ring carries an 18ct Gold hallmark together with an IS&Co Makers Mark. We have been unable to confidently attribute this mark to a particular jeweller, so rather than speculate, we have left the maker unidentified.

Weighing 3 grams and currently a Size O, this is a particularly pretty antique ring with plenty of presence despite its delicate proportions.
